The U.S. House Natural Resources Committee is holding a field hearing in Pasco on Monday, 10 September to focus on the economic benefits of the Snake and Columbia River dams.
Dan Newhouse requested the hearing and promotional materials signal that it is intended to be a cheerleading exercise.
What we need is a convergence on common definitions and agreed-upon data with respect to the performance of the Lower Snake River Dams. You may support current operation of the dams, or you may think the dams should be breached. Either way you should be invested in solid analysis of the contributions as well as the shortcomings of the dams.
The field hearing will attract both supporters and detractors. It will be a good opportunity to tune your ear to the terms of the debate and become a better consumer of the arguments from each side.
