We have many ways for you to get involved and help elect Democrats and build the local party.
You can help candidates by volunteering to canvass, phone bank, write postcards, etc. You also can contribute financially, write letters to the editor, host a candidate meet-and-greet event, put a sign in your yard, and more. See the Democratic Candidates page for this year’s election and visit your favorite candidates’ campaign sites to donate or contact them about volunteer opportunities.
Candidate Yard Signs
You can pick up signs at the Walla Walla County Democrats office at 343 S Second Ave, M-F, between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Poll watchers will be especially important this year with a write-in candidate for County Commissioner, Danielle Garbe Reser, and challenges the Auditor’s Office has experienced in staffing and having the required Certified Election Administrators. This is an important function that has become even more critical to the democratic process with the rise in contested elections in recent years. The first poll-watcher training will be Friday, October 21, at 4:00 p.m., and a second will be Tuesday, October 25, at 11:30 a.m. Both trainings will be at the WWCD office, 343 S. Second Ave. Sign up for poll-watching shifts using this form.
“Vote Blue” Phone/Text Banking & Canvassing
Phone calls: We will phone bank every day from October 21 through Election Day. There will a brief orientation on Zoom at the beginning of each session, as needed, followed by calling. Everything will be provided for you to be successful – voter names and contact information, a script you can follow, and a way to capture the data so we can continue to update our lists.
Texting: We will text bank every day from October 21 through Election Day.
Canvassing/doorbelling: From October 21 through Election Day, we also will canvass every day. Canvassers will meet at our office at 343 S Second Ave and work in pairs. Following an orientation, each team will be provided lists of fellow Democrats and independents and maps.
Phone, text, and canvass shifts will be daily during these times:
Monday-Thursday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Friday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Last four days, Saturday, Nov 5, through Tuesday, Nov 8, we will have canvassing, phoning, and texting shifts 9:00 a.m-8:00 p.m.
Participate in the Local Party
Having as many people as possible working with the local party during election years and in between is critical to our immediate and long-term success. Easy places to start are signing up for our mailing list, attending monthly meetings, and marching with us in the September 3 Fair Parade. To get more involved, consider other options on our volunteer form.
If you have questions about volunteering or new ideas, you can add them in the volunteer form’s comment section or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is important to get and remain active with the party and crucial that we all find ways to pitch in during election years to help elect Democrats and build the party. So, please do get involved!
